Default Eles seem like they kinda suck now

I don't know if I'm alone on this, but it seems like Ele kinda sucks. Their spells cost alot, but do damage comparable to a warrior (who doesn't use energy, and never really runs out). Ele's are also squishy and die easy, unlike a warrior.

It just seems like Warriors have everything: Armor, damage, health, healing, and that warrior doesn't need alot of help to smash everything.

On the other hand, it seems there's not really a reason to be an Ele anymore. I thought Ele was supposed to do damage.

Has anyone else been annoyed by how useless Ele has gotten? The necro and mesmer and better at debuffs, the warrior does better damage and has better armor, and the Ranger is pretty much like the warrior at range. Ele just seems like it got nerfed into oblivion (especially for PvE), and Ele doesn't really seem to serve a point anymore.

As an Ele - I can dish out a ton of damage. I use a lot of energy, but I also have a lot of engery and understand how to manage it. I'd say I die no more or less than any warrior I have even been with in a group.

Warriors can be a good class - however they don't have everything. With my ranger - poison arrow, throw dirt, interupt the healing sig = warrior in trouble.

I know Eles suck in PvP, but I couldn't help make one for Factions. They just look so damn cool with that glowy Halo around their head!

I figure if I make a E/Me, I'll be able to manage the outragous Energy expendature better.

There are already two threads about this topic in the Gladiators section, by Ensign. Good reading, I suggest you read both.

My ele dishes out far more damage than any warrior, especially in the crowd control situations in factions. Elementalist are NOT meant to DPS on a single target (unless you feel that you need to go as a dual attunement air ele). An ele's biggest role is mass AoE that softens up the entire mob so the warrior can just flick the baddies over. Also, can can deal quick spike damage to take out a particulary annoying baddie before it can heal.

Also, it's a powerful support class, wards work wonders in factions, give them a shot while working with earth magic. PB AoE spells got a buff too, try using armor of earth and tanking with them or using assassin skills to teleport in, blow up, then leave quickly. You're capable of spamming all sorts of fun conditions and hexes that will soften up the enemy to no end.

I actually stopped playing as an E/me a little bit ago. Echo meteor shower, well, sucks. Yeah, you get off two giant nukes, but it has a small AoE (adjacent), you just wasted 65 energy and 20 exhaustion, meaning you won't be doing much else, and the whole echo nuke thing has a 60 second recharge, meaning you can either stand around and wait for it, or, more likely, your PUG will get bored and run off while you stand around with your thumb up your butt. Also, the mesmer energy management stuff is kinda lame if you really think about it. Energy tap, for instance, can provide 7 or so energy every 25-30 seconds. That's enough to cast flare. Whoopee. I like E/R for serpent's quickness actually. It speeds up those long recharges, including those on my energy management stuff (I <3 glyph of energy).

Too many people try to play ele's with the warrior motto; "See red dot kill red dot". You should concentrate more on spreading the most pain around with AoE, or protecting your team with conditions like blind, using wards, or slowing the enemy so kiting is easier.

Every profession is as good as the player AND no profession is higher in food chain than other. Period.

Say whatever you want to counter this but GW professions are balanced.

Eles just got a lot of buffs with the reccent skill balances. I wouldn't say they are worthless. I'm a huge fan of my E/Me (ZOMG I n00b echo nuker) who uses Inspiration to constantly spam air spike skills.

You just noticed that ele is a subpar class and that they totally suck today? Where have you been the past year?

And eles only deal damage compairable to a warrior who isnt using any skills. If the warrior uses attack skills, he out damages the ele by a lot.

Ele is a lame support class.

When viewing some of the new necro and mesmer spells, my girlfriend and I joked that if such-and-such spell were an ele spell it would have exhaustion and cost 25 mana and take 5 seconds to cast.

But in all seriousness, eles scare the crap out of me. A warrior, I can blind so very easily and he has to actually get close to me first. I can also try to dodge his attacks, run away, etc. Or just simply heal the damage.

Eles on the other hand can hit you from anywhere if they have line-of-sight (sometimes not neccessary), and their high-powered spells can spike me dead so suddenly that I have no chance to survive. Sure, they have a tonne of penalties for doing so, but that's so much damage all at once. That's their strength.

EDIT: Although now that I think about it, a channeling ritualist can dish out some amazing, and scary, damage that is very comparable to the elementalist. You may have a point. But I want to wait and see.

Or you promtly get killed because you are out of energy even if you do get them all off.

AoE in GW is bad because half of the spells are DoT which people just walk out of and the other half don't do damage over a large enough area.

The only class that needs a completely redone skill set more than the Els are the Rts.

Not true. I play the E/mo build and use many great skills to do TONS of damage. Can a warrior dish out 200+ damage in 5 secs? I can. Can a warrior try and attack more than one target and be succesful? I can. By using a combo with Lighting Surge + Lighting Orb, I can deal 200+ damage to one target. With Incendiary Bonds + Fireball, I can deal 150+ to a target and peopl areound him.

Now I'm not dissing the warrior, as they are a great class. They can sustain TONS of damage and also deal quite a deal of damage. Every class in Guild Wars is special in it's own way. It depends on how you utilize it is what counts.

For example, my E/mo has 80+ energy. Now compared to the warrior, thats god-like. But guess what? That energy goes down preatty quick. With out my attunments, I'd be out of the fight faster then you can say Elementilist. (well not really, but you get the idea). And with no energy, the Elementilist is like a sitting duck. Now the warrior can run out of energy and no problem. But what if he's blind? Or has some spell on him that reduces the amount he hits or does? How great of a player is he then? As you can see, no profession is better than the next. It's the players that make these professions shine and work right. =]

I have one. I ran air and fire and got sick of getting outdamaged by every warrior and then running out of energy from spamming massive skills constantly just to keep up with a skillless wammo. So yes, I will say what I want about them. They cant fight. They are decent support with earth and water, which I now run and do fine. Of course neither of those do any damage.

yes. under frenzy they do 300 damage in 2 seconds with eviscerate/executioners.

about as well as an ele can.

by using signet of stregth and frenzy i can do the same thing for 5 energy in the same amount of time.

No it isnt. My skills cost 5 energy (or adrenaline) and do more damage than yours which cost 25.

Yeah, but factor in your armor and you are out of the fight faster than you can say elementalist....Really.

The monk cures it? Its a lot harder to cure no energy than blindness.

Same as an interupter/dazer sitting on a ele (lol that wouldnt happen...there are threats out there)

He sadly...still outdamages you.

I agree with your second half. The right players can make anything look good/bad. That doesnt mean that eles arent inferior. It takes a hell of a lot more skill to make an ele look good than it does a warrior.

eles dont do as much as a warrior, they can do A LOT more, you probably dont play with good eles, also their numerous knockdowns alow them to get away form danger while still dealing mass damage.... i see them to be UNDERrated atm

I always bring Cynn when I go out with a full team of henchies, why?
Because she helps scatter the bunch of mobs.
Running mobs = non attacking mobs
